This year marks the 105th anniversary of the 1916 Rising. Traditionally we have marked this watershed moment in Irish history on an annual basis within Glasnevin Cemetery through a wreath laying ceremony at the Sigerson monument and the graves of Edward Hollywood and Peadar Kearney.
Unfortunately this is the second year that we have been unable to mark the anniversary with a formal ceremony due to the important restrictions to limit the spread of COVID-19.
However, on an individual and personal basis we continue to reflect on and think of those interred in the cemetery associated with and impacted by those important events of Easter week 1916. We look forward to being able to acknowledge the anniversary once again in a formal manner in the future.
